The Disabilities Issues Office (DIO) and the Canadian Centre on Disability Studies (CCDS) will once again be hosting a Manitoba Disability Research Forum on Friday, February 22, 2012, from Noon – 2:00 p.m. in the Buchwald Room at the Millennium Library (2nd floor, 251 Donald Street) in Winnipeg.

Here is the agenda for the forum: 2013 Manitoba Disability Research Forum Agenda

Our goal is to bring together individuals who are conducting disability research with those in a position to benefit from the results. This networking event will bring together practitioners from the community, academia, and government. Wilf Falk, Chief Statistician from the Manitoba Bureau of Statistics, will be on hand to provide an update on the future of federal disability data collection. Sylvie Dube and Urvashi Dhawan-Biswal from the federal Office of Disability Issues (ODI) will provide information about ODI’s priorities and recent activities, including the recent report submitted by the Panel on Labour Market Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities, and their department’s current focus on social partnerships.

Attendees will also have an opportunity to discuss their research.

Due to the size of the venue, attendance is limited. Please respond to Allen Mankewich at communications@disabilitystudies.ca or call 204-287-8411 ext. 22 if you would like to attend.

Please let us know whether you require any disability accommodations to participate. We will be providing coffee, tea and water; you are welcome to bring along your lunch.
